The soak-and-wrap method was way easier than I expected, and the fabric dried fast enough that my dog didn't stay damp and chilly on the ride home. She actually seemed perkier on the last mile of our loop, which made the extra water in my pack totally worth it.

The soak-and-tie routine takes about ten seconds, and I love that I can just wring it out at the trailhead. It kept the back of her neck noticeably cooler on our last three-mile hike, and she didn’t try to shake it off once.

My pup’s wearing this in every summit photo now, and the soak-and-tie trick really takes the edge off on warm descents. The fabric stays damp for a good hour, which is longer than I expected.
