I was skeptical about the soak-and-tie trick actually cooling my pup, but after a two-hour hike in the sun, the fabric stayed damp and cool against his neck the whole way down. The stars-and-stripes pattern got a ton of compliments at the trailhead too.

The Americana pattern is even cuter in person, and the fabric dried fast after I soaked it for our afternoon hike. My pup wore it for about two hours on the trail and it genuinely helped keep her cool at the summit.

Soaked it in the sink for about a minute and it stayed damp through our whole afternoon picnic. The bandana is a nice weight too, so it didn't flap around when she was running after the frisbee.
