Swapped my dog's old nylon collar for this polyester web one and the difference on our hikes is noticeable. The 1-inch width still feels sturdy but the tightly woven material keeps it from getting heavy when it rains.

I barely notice this thing on my dog during our afternoon walks, which is exactly what I wanted for a small breed. The tightly woven polyester web feels sturdy despite weighing almost nothing.
